Nikkei ends positive

Japanese shares closed 0.88 percent higher on Tuesday after gains in Europe and on Wall Street on hopes that the European Central Bank may soon take action to ease the continent's debt crisis, Agence France-Presse reports.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange added 77.02 points to 8,803.31, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares added 1.08 percent, or 7.97 points, to 743.70.
