Five dead, seven missing in Philippine floods
(08-07 14:18)

At least five people were killed and seven were missing Tuesday as torrential rains triggered a landslide and widespread flooding in the Philippine capital and nearby areas, officials said.
A man was killed and six others are missing and feared dead from a landslide which buried four houses in a northern Manila slum in mid-morning, Maribel Mendoza of the local public safety office told AFP.
Rescuers at the landslide site used shovels to extract six survivors, who were rushed to a hospital, she added.
Police reported four drowning deaths in Bulacan and one missing in Bataan provinces, which like Manila were hit by floods.
