UK 'blocked' China visas plan
(08-16 11:48)

Britain's Home Secretary Theresa May is reportedly blocking plans to make it easier for Chinese tourists to get visas for the UK, amid fears it will lead to a rise in organised crime, according to a leaked letter. The letter, posted on Daily Telegraph, also points out there are already 400 Chinese criminals awaiting deportation, and that 1,000 mainland citizens made asylum applications last year.
May called the plan "unacceptable" for national security reasons.
She said the current rules were a "key tool in protecting the public against significant harm".
