Japan holidays don't have to cost a bomb as Jetstar Japan will take to the skies ahead of schedule on July 3. Using Narita Airport as its base, the low-cost airline will initially fly to five leading cities - Tokyo, Osaka, Sapporo, Fukuoka and Okinawa.

Jetstar Group CEO Bruce Buchanan said: "We've built up a lot of trust with Japanese consumers who know that when we say every day low fares, we mean it."

The domestic route will be serviced by three new A320 aircraft. Fares and schedules will be announced soon.
