Host hangs up mic after five years

Wednesday, June 13, 2012

Popular Commercial Radio host Vincent Wong Wing is leaving the station at the end of the month.

Wong said he is heading to Canada on Friday for family reasons but will return a week later and work for a few days before hanging up his microphone.

He said he has been working at Commercial Radio for five years and it is time for a change of direction. "How many five years do we have in life?" Wong said, borrowing the line from a popular television show. He fended off claims that he is calling it a day because he does not get along with other colleagues, including the station's chief executive Stephen Chan Chi-wan.

When asked if he is taking up the position of undersecretary for commerce, industry and technology, Wong, above, said he has been offered many positions but has no concrete plans as yet.
