Paris snatch leaves screen veteran simply Breathless

Tuesday, January 03, 2012

Burglars hit the Paris mansion of French screen star Jean-Paul Belmondo at the weekend, which included looting his ex-wife's flat there.

Police refused to disclose the value of the belongings stolen from the homes of the veteran actor and director, whose breakthrough film was New Wave director Jean-Luc Godard's Breathless in 1960, and ex-wife Nathalie Tardivel. But one insider said the 78-year-old actor's home was the main target and jewelry was stolen.

Neither Belmondo nor Tardivel was home at the time, but the thieves fled when an alarm sounded.

Belmondo and Tardivel divorced in 2008. AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE
