Oscar winner goes back to the Bay

Wednesday, June 06, 2012

Veteran film director Woody Allen has an all-star cast headed by Oscar winner Cate Blanchett, Alex Baldwin and comedian Louis CK for his next movie project.

The 76-year-old Allen's yet-to- be-titled movie will be shot this summer in New York and San Francisco.

He will use San Francisco as a backdrop for the first time since his directorial debut in 1969 with Take The Money And Run.

The project sees Allen returning to America after filming three movies in London, Paris and Rome, picking up a screenplay Oscar for Midnight In Paris.

Although plot details have yet to be revealed, Allen's cast represents a mixture of comedic and dramatic talent, such as Happy-Go-Lucky British actress Sally Hawkins, Lost's Michael Emerson and Green Lantern star Peter Sarsgaard.

Allen has more than 40 films under his director's belt over a career spanning six decades.

He also appears alongside Penelope Cruz and Jesse Eisenberg in his latest film, the comedy To Rome With Love, which opens in North American cinemas on June 22.
