Ethnic minorities have an inner burning desire to learn Chinese for job opportunities, further studies, training and basic communication. The letter from Hong Kong Unison director James A Elms to Chief Secretary Stephen Lam Sui-lung ("Ethnic minorities need Chinese skills," The Standard, January 3) reflects this.
If there was an adequate amount of courses for ethnic minorities - sufficiently funded - with flexible timing and taught in English then maybe in the near future our physical, cultural and socio economic well-being will improve.
