We want to learn

Monday, February 20, 2012

Ethnic minorities have an inner burning desire to learn Chinese for job opportunities, further studies, training and basic communication.

The letter from Hong Kong Unison director James A Elms to Chief Secretary Stephen Lam Sui-lung ("Ethnic minorities need Chinese skills," The Standard, January 3) reflects this.

If there was an adequate amount of courses for ethnic minorities - sufficiently funded - with flexible timing and taught in English then maybe in the near future our physical, cultural and socio economic well-being will improve.
