Third time lucky
Over the past 30 years I have been involved in three major Infiniti launches in Hong Kong. In one case, as a freelance writer, I wrote the entire event in advance, from "Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome ..." down to "This concludes our event."

Hot number
Audi's A1 Sportback is a compact five- door hatchback for better convenience; a contrast roof and a number of accessories are available to personalize the car and suit customers' tastes.

Celebrities' choice
To integrate the brand's design language, Audi again made the effort to create a new series of car with great concern of both appearance and practicality, which is seen in the unconventional compact premium SUV, the Audi Q3.

Suave SUV
Now drivers and passengers can enjoy an entirely new level of carefree pleasure and comfort on the road. An all-new Lexus series comprises a host of superb models, including RX270, RX350 and RX450h.

Harbor test
The weather provided a stiff test for the first race this year of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club Spring Regatta, which took place in Victoria Harbour on May 5 and 6 with 94 boats taking part.

What a hummer!
When I heard I would be testing a "Hummer," I decided not to go on the Road to Nowhere. Visualizing the well- known and enormous US military people-mover, about 2.5 meters wide, I might find the mini-highway too narrow to negotiate.

Three-door wonder
Hyundai's latest addition in the Hong Kong market is the three-door sports car, Veloster, targeting the younger generation looking for style, driving experience and value. The unconventional configuration is the key feature which distinguishes it from its competitors.

Secret thrills
This latest Subaru Legacy Outback is a full-size family SUV, with refined styling and cutting edge technology.

Power player
Renault's launch of the Fluence was at the Hong Kong Science Park, with many VIPs in attendance. They included French transport minister Thierry Mariani, Secretary for the Environment Edward Yau, France's consul general in Hong Kong Arnaud Barthelemy, and Schneider Electric president and CEO Jean-Pascal Tricoire.

A cut above
Well, I hope the new Mazda CX-5 is in some ways similar to the world-famous Mazda MX-5, which is probably the most fun car ever from Japan.

High and mighty
They call the Nissan Murano a crossover, and you can feel that when you first sit in the car. You note the higher driving position of an SUV, which is a good safety factor. It also makes you feel a bit regal, looking down into other cars. But with the sophisticated, car-like interior and the smoothness of the handling, within a few miles you may forget you are in an SUV.
