The sweet life
Better living is all about shared happiness with family and friends, said rappers MC Jin and KT at the launch of this year's Better Living Expo. Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Paper Communication Exhibition Services, the show at AsiaWorld-Expo will bring more than 270 exhibitors under one roof from July 20 to 22.

Products to look out for

Bag some bargains
Owning a home is getting harder than ever around here, what with the sky-high prices. That's why when we do get our hands on one, furnishing it to the highest possible standard is a top priority.

Dream world
Flat's looking a little ... well, flat? Escape into the whimsical world of Papinee, where animals and landscapes come fantastically patterned and colored. Papinee, derived from the Italian word bambini or baby, is a relatively new brand in Hong Kong but has gained cult status worldwide.

A place for everything
Less is more. In the language of home design, simplicity can be one of the most important streams of thinking. But going down this path can be long and arduous, not to mention making tough choices about what to keep and what to scrap.

Cool summer weaves
Outdoor spaces come into their own in the heat of summer. Says Kate Babington, managing director of tree: "There's no better way to welcome the warmer weather than to throw an outdoor party for your family and friends."

The Great Outdoors
Summer beckons, and so does days spent sunbathing, barbecues under starlit skies, and picnics in the garden. We bring our readers out into the open with a range of outdoor furniture that is not only durable and stylish, but perfect for open spaces. From rattan chairs to water fountains, we give you a summer that is fresh, vibrant and free.

Into the Sun
Tai Ping Carpets launches a new Outdoor Collection that utilizes many of its iconic designs but ups the durability. Combining aesthetics with functionality, this is perfect for your poolside, terrace, or garden

New green growth
On a sandy, tree-shaded lane in Windermere, Florida, a new "green" house has risen from the blackened shell of a home destroyed by an electrical fire.

Retro thrills
Ikea has been in the business for more than 60 years so it is fitting that when 19 Swedish designers were invited to design the new PS (Post Scriptum) 2012 collection, they were all inspired by the brand's long history in furniture design.

Waste not, want not
Renovating? You could just rip up the old room and sweep everything into the trash bin. But a growing number of homeowners, architects and builders are trying to reuse or recycle construction materials whenever possible - for reasons both environmental and aesthetic.
