EU poised to put Athens on drip in new cash deal
The euro zone intends to draw a line under the contentious second Greek bailout today with a deal which it hopes will also quell suggestions Athens could be pushed out of the currency area.

We want to learn
Ethnic minorities have an inner burning desire to learn Chinese for job opportunities, further studies, training and basic communication.

Hassle nothing new
I don't understand the sudden interest in the flap over designer fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana banning photographers; I wrote about this idiotic policy on my Leg 3 website nearly five years ago and even then it was nothing new.

Clicking with disabled
A recent article said the government is "mounting a Web Accessibility Campaign to promote awareness of the need to make websites accessible, and to encourage businesses and organizations to adopt accessible web designs," ("Disabled to gain with drive for easy web design," The Standard, December 28.)

Bin rubbish-fee idea
I am willing to bet my shirt that the proposed introduction of fees for rubbish will simply not work.

Conference call
The government should finalize expansion plans for the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

No contracts for now
In view of the controversy over the right of abode for maids and the pending appeals, I suggest that the authorities immediately stop approving new contracts and stop renewing old ones until the situation is finally resolved.

Wrong direction
I am very concerned about the decision to open up the gates and allow mainland cars into Hong Kong. I have seen how the drivers handle their vehicles and I don't want that type of reckless disregard for the road in my backyard.

Damp squibs
My girlfriend and I paid a lot of money to fly to Hong Kong for New Year mainly to see an amazing fireworks show like we watched on YouTube.
